Update on TDCC Constitution and Membership Requirements
The Tapawera Districts Community Council (TDCC) has operated as an incorporated society under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908 (ISA1908). In 2022, the government introduced a new Incorporated Societies Act (ISA2022), which existing societies must comply with by April 2026. Until then, TDCC will continue to operate under the provisions of ISA1908.
To comply with ISA2022, TDCC must submit a revised constitution. This constitution must first be ratified by members. A Special General Meeting (SGM) will be held on 20 May, with a single agenda item: Ratification of the revised TDCC Constitution. All residents of the wider Tapawera community are warmly invited to attend.
The revised constitution will be made available for public viewing on the TDCC page of the Tapawera Community website from 13 May. A notice and link will also be posted on our Tapawera Community News Facebook page.
Although ISA2022 introduces several changes, most are procedural and straightforward. However, one significant change is the requirement for active consent to membership. Under ISA2022, the TDCC must maintain a register of members who have explicitly agreed to join. Currently, membership is based solely on residency within our catchment area and does not involve an application process.
To meet this new requirement, we plan to implement a membership registration system. A trial version of the online membership application form is now available for review at the following link:

You are welcome to complete and submit the form to see how it works. Please note, this is only a trial, and no membership data will be collected at this stage.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
