Dear Community Council member,
Have you noticed that there’s no blue ‘toilets’ sign in the village? We hadn’t, but now that a resident has pointed it out, the void is obvious! Apparently some of our visitors can’t find the toilets, so we’re asking TDC to look at installing one.
Work on enhancing the cycleway use is on-going; we’ve been in touch with the Mayor about the closed Wakefield-Wai-iti section, written in support of the proposed East bank link to Motueka from Alexander Bluffs bridge, and possibly instigated a solution to the lack of cycleway from behind the camp to the bridge on Tadmor Valley road. Resolution of the first two issues would bring many more day-trippers to the village, which is good for the local economy, whilst the third would make the area much safer for walkers and cyclists alike.
Life is never without it’s complications, as you will see in the first few items in the Matters Arising in the attached minutes, but don’t be put off; there’s much to be pleased about.
And of course it’s hard not to be a bit excited about the unanimous passing of the Earthquake-prone Buildings Bill just last week; something we’ve been waiting for. Now we need to wait for the detail, to see what it means for the Community Centre!
Don’t forget that feedback regarding the draft constitution is due back to us by this Friday; this is the third opportunity to have your say, and we are hopeful of having the final document ready for adoption at the upcoming AGM (date to be advised). If you like the constitution as it is, please drop us a note to say that too!
